Date: Monday 31 January 2005
Topic: VBUG Technical Meeting
Overview: There's no hiding from Web Services. Everywhere you go it's SOA-this and message-oriented that.
In this session we'll walk through the Microsoft web service world from start to finish. We'll spend a short period of time on a refresher of the core web service technologies before moving on to look at how we can build more advanced web services with ASP.NET V1.1 using technologies such as SoapHeaders and SoapExtensions.
Beyond that, we'll spend the majority of our time looking at the Web Services Enhancements 2.0 which provide mechanisms for moving past just SOAP and HTTP towards building distributed applications that participate in secure, routable, policy-driven message exchanges.
We'll finish up with a roadmap as to where the Microsoft effort is being spent on distributed application technologies over the next couple of years.
